OUR HISTORY

WALGA was formed in 2008 with six employees undertaking ancillary crushing and screening of iron ore at the South Middleback Ranges Mine.

OUR HISTORY IS RICH

In 2014, WALGA Mining was awarded the Crushing & Screening and Train Loading contract of iron ore at Arrium’s (now SIMEC Mining) Iron Knob Mine site (IKMA). Operations of this contract started in February 2015. The company expanded its operations into ore processing in 2017, when an ore beneficiation plant was successfully commissioned at IKMA.

In 2018, WALGA expanded its operational footprint at IKMA, adding Load and Haul activity to the team’s operations, which saw a procurement of three (3) CAT 773F dump trucks and a CAT 336D to the company’s SME fleet.

The Load and Haul involved reclaiming approximately 4.5 Mt of low-grade iron ore in which WALGA crushed, beneficiated and loaded onto trains and railed to SIMEC Mining export sheds in Whyalla. WALGA’s Load and Haul activity now include mining the Scree ore deposits at IKMA and hauls the ore to the ROM fingers for processing.

Fast forward to today and we are focussed on bringing our civil services to a whole new level!
